Teacher Twins in Action: Student Film Festival within the EdUp Project
📅 Date: 12 June 2025 🕓 Time: 16:30–18:30 (CET) 📍 Location: TU Bergakademie Freiberg / Zoom 🔗 Work Package: WP3 – Content Creation through Collaboration: “Teacher Twins”
The event marked an important milestone in the implementation of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the international educational project EdUp – Support and Expansion of the Ukrainian Higher Education Sector in the Area of Resources and Technology, implemented under the Erasmus+ programme. ![]() One of the key objectives of WP3 is to develop high-quality digital learning content through international collaboration between Ukrainian and European university lecturers — the so-called “Teacher Twins.” On the Ukrainian side, the event was joined by Tetiana Kuvaieva, Head of the Marketing Department at Dnipro University of Technology (DniproTech), while Dr Mark Jacob and Darlene Kilian represented TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany). ![]() As part of this collaboration, a hybrid student film festival was organised, showcasing nine short films created by students from TU Freiberg and DniproTech. The event was held in a blended format with simultaneous screenings in Freiberg and Dnipro, accompanied by live interaction via Zoom. ![]() Between November 2024 and May 2025, multidisciplinary student teams worked on producing short films aimed at promoting science and technology among teenagers aged 15–17. The teams combined technical expertise (science and engineering) with creative skills (marketing and journalism). The project began with a video production workshop led by a student assistant from TU Freiberg. The recorded workshop will be available online shortly. Following the film screenings, an award ceremony was held. The winners were selected by 11th-grade pupils from Nossen (Germany) and Dnipro (Ukraine). ![]() This innovative format made it possible to: - promote technical education among youth, - strengthen communication between Ukrainian and German students, develop soft skills, increase the visibility of partner universities among prospective students. ![]() 🔍 The experience gained through this WP3 component of the EdUp project is valuable not only for the direct participants but also as a model for future international initiatives. It can serve as a reference point for new educational projects and grant applications. 🎯 The results of the Teacher Twin collaboration can guide other educators and institutions interested in implementing innovative formats of digital learning and international communication. 🎞️ The student-produced videos are available for public viewing and can be used in information campaigns, including student recruitment for both DniproTech and TU Freiberg, to promote science, educational opportunities, and international collaboration. ![]() ![]()
